Passed in September 2021, Assembly Bill 1466 requires county recorders to develop a system for the redaction of “unlawfully restrictive covenants” in property records such as deeds and titles. These counties might choose the manual approach, searching for specific language and redacting by hand, however, using the latest Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) technologies, this process can be automated with high accuracy.
